a bag dialysis tube containing 2% sucrose solution was placed in a beaker containing 20% sucrose solution. what will happen to bag

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The dialysis bag contains dialysis tubing which works as a cell membrane. It is permeable to water but large molecular weight substances like sucrose cannot pass through the dialysis bag.

So, now if dialysis bag containing 2% sucrose is placed in beaker containing 20% sucrose, then the bag will lose weight. It is because inside bag has more water (hypotonic) than in beaker. So, water will move from the bag into the beaker leading the bag to lose weight.

Hope it helps

A dialysis sac that is permeable to glucose and water is filled with water and placed in a beaker containing 20% glucose solution. Will there be a net transport of water across the dialysis sac? If so, in which direction will the water move, into the sac or out of the sac? No, there is no force to drive the water across the membrane. There is no net movement, but water will move back and forth across the membrane. Yes,...

Dialysis tubing comes in different ratings for permeability, depending on how big the holes are in the tubing. You are a dialysis technician and you must choose the right tubing for your patient. You choose the one with the pores that are just large enough to allow glucose to pass through but not larger molecules. Once the blood has passed through the machine and is back in the patient, identify which of the following substances will have been filtered from...
