Tonicity of solution in relation to cell

1. Tonicity of solution means the concentration of solute which is relative to the another solution on the opposite side of the cell membrane. A solution which is present outside the cell is known as hypertonic if it has present a greater number of the solutes then the cytosol is present inside the cell.

2. Only those solute which cannot pass or cross rhe membrane contribute to tonicity. Tonicity affect the volume of the cell.
