Herbivores are animals that rely on vegetation for their nutrition. They possess several stomach chambers for example camel, giraffe, deer etc , unlike carnivores or omnivores who have single chamber.

1.Plants cells are tough. The cellulose which is present in them is taken up by the herbivores. This cellulose is very difficult to digest.

2. Herbivores have large teeth that can grind the food whereas carnivores have very sharp teeth. These sharp teeth are used in tearing flesh.

3. Herbivores need more energy in processing their food. It takes several cycles of rechewing the food and cud for ultimate digestion. Their digestive system is much more complex as compared to the omnivores and carnivores.
