Pons is middle section of brain stem which is considered as a large bulge or swelling in the brain stem. Pons act as relay center where messages pass from the brain stem and reaches cerebrum an from their it reaches cerebellum. Autonomic nervous system all the involuntary actions of body like breathing, blood circulation and digestion which are controlled by autonomic system and for all this involuntary movement’s autonomic nervous system play a crucial role.

    Pons acts as relay center where it receives messages from organs upon stress conditions where by increasing it function. Example in breathing whenever low breathing or low oxygen rate is seen messages are sent to brain through pons where brain where autonomic nervous system sends signals to regulate breathing and increases the breathing rate.
