Answer #1

Sympathetic  nervous system originate from thoracolumbar outflow ( Throacic anf lumbar spinal cord ) and parasympathetic nervous system from cranial nerve 3,7,9,10 and sacral (S2,3,4) spinal cord craniosacral outflow.

Eg : 1)Heart : parasympathetic system have inhibitory action and cause decrease heart rate and decreased conduction .Heart have M2 receptors Acetycholine acts on M2 receptors and exert its action
Sympathetic system - Stimulate the heart by stimulating beta 1 receptor on heart and Neurotransmitter is Adrenaline

Eyes : Parasympathetic system stimulates sphincter pupillae (M3 receptors ) and result in miosis
Sympathetic system stimulates the dilator pupillae through alpa 2 receptor on dilator pupillae and cause mydriasis .

Discuss an aspect of the stress reaction with respect to the autonomic nervous system. Explain how this relates to the General Adaptation Syndrome (proposed by Hans Selye). In the past, everyday survival challenges required physical strength and speed, such as the stress of hunting for food, or, defending oneself from attack. Most stressful situations today do not. Today's survival challenges of being in traffic jams, meeting deadlines at work, maintaining competency, juggling multiple family schedules, or, dealing with illness place...

The Autonomic Nervous System can be challenging to understand because it is connected to virtually every body function in opposite ways. We are going to explore the physiology of the ANS in this discussion by looking at specific examples of how it works. For your first discussion post, describe how the parasympathetic nervous system influences one function in your body. For example, the parasympathetic nervous system causes decreased blood pressure. If you chose this body function, you would describe the...
