Differences between the human X and Y chromosomes:

1. Two X chromosomes and no Y chromososomes are present in female while one X chromosome and one Y chromosome in male.

2. X chromosome is larger than the Y chromosomes.

3. Sex determinig regionY (SRY) is located on the short arm of Y chromosome encoded TDF (Testing determining factor) that develops testes in male. The X chromosome does not has SRY region and develops gonad.

4. X chromosome consists more gene than Y chromosome

Similarities between the human X and Y chromosomes:

1. Both X and Y are sex chromosomes of human and determine its sexes.

2. Both X and Y chromoses have two main region of homology at their ends for pairing are celled pseudoautosomal region 1 and 2 (PAR1 and PAR2).

3. Both X and Y chromosome consist of long arm (p), short arm (q) and centromere.
