How different are the concepts of neoplasia, tumors and cancer?
Neoplasia: An abnormal mass of tissue, the growth of which exceeds and is uncoordinated with that of the normal tissues and persists in the same excessive manner after cessation of the stimuli that evoked the change.
Tumors: it is of two types maligant and bengign tumours
bengign tumour: a group of adhere cells that are attached to one part of the body and do not invade to other parts.
Malignant tumors:detaches to adhere tissues and invade to other parts of the body and cause tumors.
Cancer:Cancer is a term used to describe large group of diseases that are characterized by a cellular malfunction.Healthy cells are programmed to know what to do and when to do it. Cancer cells do not have this porgramming and therefore grow and replicate and out of control. They also serve no physiological function. These cells are now termed as neoplasm.
