ONE OF THE MAJOR HALLMARK OF MALIGNANT TUMOUR IS ITS INVASIVE POTENTIAL AND METASTASIS .CANCER CELLS HAVE THE ABILITY TO MIGRATE AND PENETRATE THE ADJACENT TISSUES WHICH IS THE INVASIVE PROPERTY OF CANCEROUS CELLS.THE LOCAL INVASION IS THE FIRST STAGE IN THE DEVEPLOPMENT SECONDARY TUMOURS .

METASTASIS IS THE PROCESS OF SPREADING OF CANCEROUS CELLS FROM ITS PRIMARY SITE TO DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE BODY.DURING THIS PROCESS THE CANCER CELLS WILL BREAKAWAY FROM THE PRIMARY TUMOUR AND TRAVEL THROUGH BLOOD OR LYMPH , PENETRATE NORMAL TISSUES AND FORM NEW TUMOURS IN OTHER PARTS OF THE BODY WHICH WILL BE DISTANT FROM THE PRIMARY TUMOUR.

MAJORITY OF THE CANCER DAETHS ARE CAUSED BY METASTASIS RATHER THAN THE PRIMARY TUMOUR.THE BENIGN TUMOURS LACK THE ABILITY TO INAVDE OR METASTASIZE,WHICH MAKES THEM LESS DEADLY THAN MALIGNANT TUMOURS.
