Distinguish between bryophytes and pteridophytes. (8)
Bryophytes and pteridophytes both are group of lower plants with following differences:
1. Bryophytes are embryophytes, non vascular (no xylem and phloem) while pteridophytes are vascular plants (with xylem and phloem) and reproduce via spores.
2. Gametophyte is the dominant phase in bryophytes while the dominant phase in pteridophytes is sporophyte.
3. There is no true roots in bryophytes while pteridophytes have true roots.
4. Since bryphytes are avascular there are no vascular tissues in brophytes while pteridophytes have vascular tissues.
