Answer #1

Answer-

Epidermis Periderm
Epidermis is primary dermal tissue in plant that is present at outer layer of plant parts like young leaves and young stems. Periderm is secondary dermal tissue in plant that is present at outer layer of stem and root after secondary growth.
Epidermis is initially present at outer layer of plant parts like fruit, leaf, stem, root etc. Cambium breaks epidermis during secondary growth. Periderm arises from cambium and replaces epidermis during secondary growth in leaf, fruit, stem, root etc.
Epidermis protects plant part from pathogens, water loss, gas exchange, secretes metabolic components and in root it allows root tissue to absorb minerals and water. Periderm protects plant parts from mechanical damage, desiccation, freezing, heat injury and disease.
