1. Describe and give examples of the bryophytes
2. list the features that distinguish the animal kingdom from other kingdoms
1. Bryophytes are the most primitive of the terrestrial plants and they require a moist environment for their existence. They are smaller than tracheophytes and they lack the true stems, leaves, and roots which are found in the higher plants. They are the photosynthetic, non-vascular plants. Cuticle and stomata are absent in these plants.
Examples of bryophytes: Hornworts, liverworts, and mosses
2. Animals are eukaryotic and usually multicellular, which separates them from bacteria and most protists. They are not able to make their own food that means they are heterotrophic, generally digesting food in an internal chamber, which separates them from plants and algae. They must ingest or eat other organisms.
