describe the physiological function of efferent neurons
A neuron or the nerve cell is present in the nervous system and
carries information in the form of electrical impulses between the
nervous system and different body parts. A neuron can be afferent
or efferent.
The efferent neuron contains dendrites, cell body, a long axon and
the axon terminals.
The efferent neuron carries motor information from the CNS to
different parts of the body. The efferent neuron arises from the
CNS and innervates the skeletal and smooth muscles. When the CNS
generates a commond in response to a stimulus received, the
efferent neuron carries those commands in the form of nerve
impulses to the effector organs to produce a response.
