Electroencephalogram or EEG would be the best instrument which can be used here. This is because Muscle movement is a motor activity controlled by corticospinal tract and muscle pain is one controlled by spinothalamic tract. BOth these are found passing through medulla, part of brain stem. The electrical activity found here would help us measure and understand the reason for these uncontrolled movements and pain. Based on the finding, treatment protocol can be decided acoordingly.
