if you had the ability to inhibit mRNA synthesis with a drug explain what affect it would have on the cells and the body

Homework Answers

Answer #1

if the drug inhibits the inability of the cell to synthesize mRNA, then transcription of the genetic information and its translation into protein won't happen. As we know that all the cellular functions and activities are dependent on the expression of the genes with protein synthesis that exerts the response. Proteins are essential for carrying out the various cellular activites such as enzymes are made up from protein carrying the metabolism. Protein on the cell surface function as receptors and form protein channels. As these functions would be affected and the cell then will not be able to survive and would get died.

Describe the synthesis of DNA polymerase starting with the synthesis of the mRNA (transcription has already happened). Stop here and think about the protein DNA polymerase – what does it do? where does it function? (you should know this from general biology – if not, look it up!) Explain the details of how this protein is made and targeted to its final destination. Since you are starting with mRNA, be sure to discuss how the mRNA gets to the ribosome....

Loop diuretics inhibit the ability of the kidneys to reabsorb sodium in the ascending loop. What impact does these loop diuretics have on urine and plasma volume and osmolarity? For each of the following values would it increase, decrease or stay the same? 1) Urine volume 2) Urine concentration 3) Plasma volume 4) Plasma concentration Based on the information from this question, what conditions would you treat with loop diuretics? Thanks in advance!

A pharmaceutical company is testing a new drug to increase memorization ability. It takes a sample of individuals and splits them randomly into two groups. After the drug regimen is completed, all members of the study are given a test for memorization ability with higher scores representing a better ability to memorize. Those 21 participants on the drug had an average test score of 29.077 (SD = 4.199) while those 30 participants not on the drug had an average score...

A pharmaceutical company is testing a new drug to increase memorization ability. It takes a sample of individuals and splits them randomly into two groups. One group is administered the drug, and the other is given a placebo. After the drug regimen is completed, all members of the study are given a test for memorization ability with higher scores representing a better ability to memorize. You are presented a 90% confidence interval for the difference in population mean scores (with...

The antibiotic streptomycin inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria. If this antibiotic is added to a culture of animal cells, protein synthesis in the cytoplasm continues normally. However, over time, the population of mitochondria in the cell decreases. More specifically, the protein-synthesis machinery inside the mitochondria is inhibited. Explain this observation based on what you know about the origins of the modern eukaryote. (With respect to the number of mitochondria within the cell) what would you expect to observe if, in...
