Within the testes, name any three (3) types of cells plus describe their locations & functions (one of the three cells must be found outside of the seminiferous tubules)

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Three types of cells found in the testes are :

Name of the cell Location    Function
Spermatogonia These are found within the seminiferous tubules, basically on the wall of the seminiferous tubules. These cells are basically the germ cells that divide and grow into functional male gametes.
Sertoli cells These cells are present in the epithelium of the seminiferous tubule. These cells help in support ,growth and nutrition of the growing spermatogonia. They also secrete inhibin.
Leydig cells These cells are present outside the seminiferous tubules( between the tubules) These are the cells responsible for the secreation of testosterone and androgens that are basically involved in the sexual development and secondary sexual characteristics in males.

Propionyl-CoA is found within mammalian cells, arising from at least three sources. What are the sources? Elaborate. In 3 enzyme catalyzed steps, the propionyl-CoA is ultimately converted to succinyl-CoA, a process that requires bicarbonate. Imagine that you have an in vitro set-up of 13C-labelled propionyl-CoA (label on the middle C of propionyl), unlabelled bicarbonate, and the enzymes. By showing the three relevant equations, indicate the location of the 13C-label in each step and in the product succinyl-CoA.   It is NOT...

All data members of each class should be marked as **private** (a leading underscore in the name). Since they're private, if you need to access them from outside the class, you should do so via get or set methods.
