Answer #1

By using excel we have to solve this question.

First, enter data into excel.

We have to find outliers from the given data set.

If any value outside ( Q1 - 1.5*IQR, Q3 + 1.5*IQR) this interval we say that this is outlier value.

Q1: First quartile

Q3: Third quartile

IQR: Interquartile range

By using excel we can find Q1 and Q3 easily.

First, enter data into excel.

Q1 = 56

(Using excel =QUARTILE(Select data,1))

Q3 = 80

(Using excel =QUARTILE(Select data,3))

IQR = Q3 - Q1 =80 - 56 = 24

Q1 - 1.5*IQR = 56 - 1.5*24 = 44

Q3 + 1.5*IQR = 80 + 1.5*24 = 116

Interval is (44 , 116) we have to check how many values beyond this interval.

There are 32, 37, 41 are outliers.

When computing the outliers of a given dataset, we could find Q1-1.5*IQR and Q3+1.5*IQR, and any values outside the range is considered as outliers. What if we just simply remove the smallest and largest values from the dataset? If there are more than one smallest/largest values, just remove one of them. Would this be valid?

I am working on finding the IQR of a certain set of values. I have 1,000 different values in the data set. I've calculated the mean - 674, median - 680 and mode - 632. The variance is 10,878, STD - 104 and IQR: Q1 - 595 and Q3 - 595. IQR = 156. When evaluating what the IQR is telling me.... how do I compare this to the median of the data set? Q1 and Q3 are quite straightforward. You only need to state the null and alternative hypothesis. No calculations involved University X has 20,000 students, of which 9000 are men, and 11,000 are women. You collected independent simple random samples from men and women, and recorded how much money each respondent spent on cellular telephone service in a month. You got the following results: Men: Sample size = 100, sample mean = $40, sample standard deviation = $20 Women: Sample size...
