Question

I am trying to figure out how to find the test statistic using Excel. I understand the formula- that I need to use parameter 'p' and 'normal distribution' ….z= sample proportion and minus the 'population portion' then we divide p*q and divide n -sample size. I understand how to populate the data in the formula. I just can't figure out how to solve this using Excel. (my only option with my class) I need step by step directions if possible. Visual aid would be even better...but whatever you could do to help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

we know that the formula for the z statistic is given as

let us assume that sample proportion p(hat) is entered in cell A1, p in cell A2, q= 1 - p in cell A3 and n value in cell A4

we want to find the z statistic value in cell B6

so, we will write the formula

z = (A1-A2)/sqrt((A2*A3)/A4)

this will give us the required z statistic value
