define and explain cultural relativity
Cultural relativity or cultural realtivism can be defined as a principle that cultural beliefs, values and practices of a culture derive their meaning within a specific social context of that same culture itself instead of being judged through another context. This termed was coined by Franz Boas.
For example if a specific culture has the tradition of eating crickets as a way to celebrate , cultural relativism would encourage the idea that as each culture is equally valid, there's no need to judge it through the lenses of right and wrong based on one's own culture but instead try and understand why this tradition exists from their own context.
