What do you think it means to be a 'citizen of the world'?" Should you strive to be a cosmopolitan? Why or why not? What would be some of the implications of living as a world citizen?"
Being a ‘citizen of the world’ implies viewing the globe as a single land, without the barriers of geographical and regional boundaries. In other words, an individual who claims to be a ‘citizen of the world’ is someone who prioritises global citizenship above any nationalistic or local identities and relationships. In my view, one should strive to be a world citizen and cosmopolitan in that regard as we are constantly moving towards a globalised world. Such an outlook would help overcome existing social and political differences that are leading to several conflicts across countries. Furthermore, a cosmopolitan citizen may provide value to society by using knowledge acquired across cultural contexts.
