Do you believe that moderation is always a virtue? should people always strive to reach the mean between two extremes? why or why not?
Well moderation is a virtue depending on the context.
Let us chose the following examples:
1. Drinking.
We could argue that moderation is indeed virtue. However, the mean
value is a function of the behaviour of the entire population
behaviour. Though, in general, it does seem to be okay to be
between 2 extremes. This answer again could vary from culture to
culture.
2. Maximising your own happiness and experiences.
In this scenario I personally would want to be the outlier. No
reason to be in the mean.
So the answer always depends on the context.
Hope that helps.
