1. 20 independent judges (10 males and 10 females) would be assigned to rate the subjects on their levels of attractiveness. Based on their assigned rating, subjects would be assigned to 4 groups: Very unattractive, unattractive, attractive, very attractive.

2. There will be 4 levels of the independent variable, as described above (very unattractive, unattractive, attractive, very attractive). The subjects would be assigned to different groups based on the ratings the receive from the judges.

3. The dependent variable would be the prison sentence. Past histories of the duration of prison sentence for the participants would be collected and this can be used as a measure for the dependent variable.
