Coercive Control is a term coined by Evan Stark.
It helps us understand that domestic violence doesn't only mean physical abuse, it's much more that that. It is a pattern of behavior which takes awaya the self esteem of the victim.
It's controlling the partner's everyday life in terms of social activities, way of dressing, checking the phone continually, and also controlling what shoulb be eaten and what not.
So, the victim has to continually follow the unspoken rules and do almost everything according to the partner. All humans want to feel that they are accepted, so the victims try their best to fulfill their partner's wish eventually not having confident at all due to rejections. It's kind of a toxic relationship where the person can't even move out nor can stay with the another one.
