Do you think it is the responsibility of a child's caregivers or media programmers to protect children from violent or sexual imagery? How would you manage it as a parent? As a media programmer?
It is indeed the responsibility of the media programmers to protect children from violent or sexual imagery. It only to a certain point that parents can protect their children from such content. The media programmers must be responsible to not exhibit such content in the first place. The First Amendment to the constitution notes that, citizens are free to exercise speech and that congress will not prohibit the freedom of speech. However, the practice of freedom of speech is mostly observed on the internet where it is more of a misuse than productive use. A citizen should be entitled to freedom of speech, however, in the form of violence or sexual imagery, is not quite right. Sexual desires which are sheer fantasies are often manifested in pornography. A lot of content in the porn is offensive. It sometimes includes little children who are barely five to eight years old just to satisfy fantasies of a pedophile. Pedophilia is not healthy and porn must not exhibit such offensive content and encourage individuals to indulge in it. As a media programmer I would restrict the production of such content in order to protect children from violent or sexual imagery.
