In the world of theatre, theatrical release refers to a show, film, television episode or even a music video which is released for public perusal or review. A director's cut release on the other hand refers to an edited version of the film or any of the above which the director himself would like present to the public from his directorial perspective. However, due to the production company, distributors or even the studio's imposition of change in film in order to make it more profitable, leads to not releasing the director's cut. The movies, shows or the music videos that we watch as audience, is theatrical release.
