After ruining her sister’s wedding by crashing a limousine into a house, Gwen is given a choice for being in a prison or rehabilitation centre. She unwillingly chooses rehab but tries to forgo and accept that she is addicted to alcohol. Gradually, she begins to re-examine her life and see that she does, in fact, have a serious problem. The film also reveals that even her mother was alcohol addict. The movie 28 days revolves around the personal growth of Gwen and also puts forth the 12-step program to quit alcohol which forces Gwen to finally give up on alcohol and choose to live a sober life. The film succinctly portrays sobriety as positive and addiction as negative.
