DID is very real and it was recognized in 1980 and entered into DSM-III. DID, Dissociative Identity Disorder was previously known as Multiple Personality Disorder or Split personality Disorder. People experience two or more different personalities and when it occurs they temporarily lose their memories of the other personalities. This is the result of a traumatic experience in their childhood. There will be an overall change when a person alters to another personality such as mood, thoughts, behavior etc. People with DID often tries suicides or injure themselves.
