Reinforcement is the process where the strength of a response to a particular stimulus increases. It increases the likelihood of a behavior to occur again in the future depending upon the consequences.

In an experiment conducted by Zerbolio (1981), goldfish were given shocks in a linear presentation and learned to control the shock and thus to discriminatively avoid shock presentation.
