Humanities

The humanities can be described as the study of how people process and document the human experience. Since humans have been able, we have used philosophy, literature, religion, art, music, history and language to understand and record our world. These modes of expression have become some of the subjects that traditionally fall under the humanities umbrella. Knowledge of these records of human experience gives us the opportunity to feel a sense of connection to those who have come before us, as well as to our contemporaries.

The term ‘humanities’ includes, but is not limited to, the study and interpretation of the following: language, both modern and classical; linguistics; literature; history; jurisprudence; philosophy; archaeology; comparative religion; ethics; the history, criticism and theory of the arts; those aspects of social sciences which have humanistic content and employ humanistic methods; and the study and application of the humanities to the human environment with particular attention to reflecting our diverse heritage, traditions, and history and to the relevance of the humanities to the current conditions of national life.

Culture

Culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. Culture encompasses religion, food, what we wear, how we wear it, our language, marriage, music, what we believe is right or wrong, how we sit at the table, how we greet visitors, how we behave with loved ones, and a million other things.

In other word, culture determines what is acceptable or unacceptable, important or unimportant, right or wrong, workable or unworkable. It encompasses all learned and shared, explicit or tacit, assumptions, beliefs, knowledge, norms, and values, as well as attitudes, behavior, dress, and language.

Prehistory

Prehistory is the history of the world that has no written recording of it, a time when civilizations didn't exist and men lived a nomadic, tribe like lifestyle. There are different stages of human evolution (society wise) from Hunter-Gatherers to The Technical Revolution, and everything in between like the Industrial Revolution, etc.

Prehistory means 'before history', and we use the term to refer to the time before writing was invented. It was only when people started to write things down about 5,000 years ago that history could be recorded. A great deal of what we know about prehistory comes from fossils.

History

History is the study of the human past as it is described in the written documents left by human beings. The past, with all its decisions completed, its participants dead and its history told, is what the general public perceives as the immutable bedrock on which we historians and archaeologists stand. But as purveyors of the past, we recognize that the bedrock is really quicksand, that bits of the story are yet untold, and that what has been told comes tainted by the conditions of what we are today.

Civilization

Civilization means life style of average human beings living in this world for a certain period of era or time for example modern civilization, medieval civilization, ancient civilization, present civilization.

Civilization is considered to be the "advanced" culture in contrast to the primitive cultures characterized by social hierarchy, urbanization, centralization, developed communication forms, ideology of progress, taxation, politics so on and so forth. People generally say " We are civilized if the society the live in is found to have these characteristics.
