Outliers or extreme scores would have a stronger impact on the ______ than the ______ .

mean; median

median; mean

bar graph; histogram

standard deviation; variance

Answer #1

Please note that only median is resistant to outliers as it is claculated by ordering the datapoints in ascending or descending order and then finding the mid point

Mean on the other had , is calculed by averaging out all the values so outliers or extreme scores will push up or down the mean value by a great extent

also , standard deviation is affected by outliers as it is calculated using mean

remember it is deviation from the mean

SD = sqrt((x-xbar)^2)/n), where Xbar is mean

so standard deviation is affected by mean

variance is nothing but square of deviation

Var = SD^2

Henc the correct choice is D

Please rate if it helps
