According to researches, gender-dependent communication style is influenced by stereotypes in the doctor/patient relationship. Generally, the associations the females have with the term doctor-patient communication are that of; “empathy”, “confidence”, “openness”, while the male doctor-patient communication is generally “overbearing”, “robust” and “inhibited”. Thus these differences should be taken into consideration, for strengthening male communication skills and improving their attitudes (Stastka, 2016).
