Should the police be allowed to police themselves? Does your local community have a citizen review board? If not, should they, and why? Are these claims justified? Do the police do a good job of “policing” themselves in your community?

Answer #1

The police should be allowed to police themselves as to err is human and even the police officers can commit mistakes. We have a citizen review board in the local community in Columbia where I live. We should have these review boards as they ensure that there is no violation of the human rights. The police generally do a good job of “policing” themselves in our community but since even they are humans it is not foolproof errors are bound to occur and we need accountability in the form of review boards to have a check on them.

“In summary, corporate governance often does not work in the United States as it should. Agency problems, human nature, large and unwieldy boards of directors, and CEO power and control contribute to this breakdown.” (pg 473, Anson) I think this is a great analogy on summing up the different aspects of problems in corporations. It seems to me that a great deal of the focus of the entire company falls solely on the CEO. When Anson speaks on how CEO’s...
