The behavioral technique or combination of behavioral techniques that we might use to treat such a person suffering from the phobia of elevators; using the Psychoanalysis by talking about the experience, with the client to gain insight and then work towards separating the stimulus from the painful memory. Use of exposure therapy by slowly exposing the client to the stimulus in a safe and controlled environment, their cognitive distortions are challenged and eventually diminish (Scharfstein, 2011).
