The strengths perspective model focuses on the individual’s regenerative potential and the capacity for growth and it uses social work’s emphasis on  person in situation and extend a range of interventions including Family dynamics, advice giving, role playing. It emerged as a reaction against the medical model of pathology according to which an effective treatment plan involves expert knowledge. The medical model unlike the strengths model, develops an analysis of the client’s problem issues in terms of a pathology and addresses the individual as a ‘ case’ who is regarded as a passive recipient of intervention services.
