How can I prepare 2M sucrose (342.5965g/ mol) in methanol? Please provide me with the procedure. Thanks.
Let the volume of the soltion be 1L
We know that Molarity , M = number of moles / volme of the solution in L
2 M = number of moles / 1 L
So number of moles of sucrose , n = 2 x 1 = 2 mol
Also number of moles , n = mass/molar mass
Mass , m = number of moles x molar mass
= 2 mol x 342.5965 g/mol
= 685.193 g
So exactly weigh and transfer 685.193 g of sucrose in a 2L volumetric flask and add littile amount of methanol to the flask , dissolve all the sucrose in it and finally made upto the mark of the vessel with methanol we get 2M sucrose solution in methanol.
