Using the context of learning information for this class, give an example of each of the three memory processes: Encoding, Storage, and Retrieval.
Encoding: While learning concepts about memory in the psychology class, the student may pay attention to the meaning, which is semantic encoding, by focusing on what the professor is saying about memory process and understanding it, and also phonemic encoding may happen by focusing on how the words sound.
Storage: After going home the student may try to read up on the memory process in the chapter and rehearse the learned information. Through this process, the information is passed on from the short term memory to the long term memory.
Retrieval: Recognition and recall of the information can be done through retrieval cues, these are the cues which help the student recall the information from the memory chapter. These cues could be the page of the textbook, the context, mood etc.
