Assessment is purposefully process in the classroom to collect data in both Qualitively and Qyantively . Hence it is mainly broder term than only measurements. For a teachers , the purpose of assessment usually make decisions about students either as group or individually . For example , teacher diagnosed difficulties , verify learning after instructions , identify prerequisite learning and determined where to start a learning sequence based on students already know . In classroom assessment considered , performance in tasks in a variety of setting and contexts . Assessment also may be intrusive or not , in other words students may know that they are being assessed or it being seamless with instructions . Perhaps perceived by the students as nothing more than a chance to practice what they have learned. Assessment Integral part which helps to understand what what is learning status of a student . In formative assessment , through Quiz , discussion. Able to understand and diagnosed students learning problem and provide appropriate feedback .

Where in summative assessment used to asses effectiveness of instructional pogramme and service at the end of the year. It needs to judge students competency after an instructional phase is complete .

In norm reference test is standarized test which means a student is assessed with comparing other students . For example , Jem's score in 84% But we can't tell how much he did good performance untill doesn't know how does other performed. So ,if his percentile rank 80 then then he is in rank top 20 people and 80 people rank below him .

Where criterion reference text fixed the passing marks in any examination or cut off marks for any competitive examination . For examination , 34% is fixed criteria to passed in examination . It doesn't matter how much students scored 34% . Those people who scored 34% then they are eventually Qualifying passing marks and recommend for pass in examination . Here all are pre test or post test is predetermined.
