This statement is true. Assessment is an integral part of the teaching and learning process. Its purpose is to inform students regarding their learning progress and teachers regarding ways to adjust the curriculum and instruction to respond effectively to the learning needs of students. Further, it communicates to the school community the progress of students in achieving the school’s expectations for student learning as well as course-specific learning goals. Assessment results must be continually analyzed to improve curriculum and instruction.

Assessment helps in diagnosing of student strengths, weaknesses, misunderstanding, and learning errors. It helps in monitoring of student effort and progress toward proficiency. It helps in providing feedback to parents.
