Explain the differences between the PhD and PsyD.
Both PhD and PsyD programs are doctoral programs, where the former is a traditional Doctor in Philosophy which is done in academic set-up whereas the latter is Doctor in Psychology which is done in clinical set-up. PhD is in existence for a long time while PsyD is in existence from 1960s. PhD is more accepted more than PsyD. PhD programs are longer in duration than PsyD and PhD has stipends and financial support while PsyD don’t have. Academic PhD follows the traditional route thus employing them mostly in academic set-up while the PsyD programs help one employed in the clinical set-up. Getting admission into PsyD programs are easier but PhD programs follow very rigorous procedures in taking students.
