Briefly describe the obsession and compulsion aspects of obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, images, and sensations (obsessions) and engage in behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) in response to these thoughts or obsessions. Obsessions are intrusive and irrational thoughts or images that an individual finds difficult or impossible to ignore. On the hand, compulsions are recurrent actions that develop as a means for people to try to relieve themselves from their obsessive thoughts.
