OCD and Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) are similar in that both involve experiencing intrusive and unwanted thoughts. Those with BDD experience such thoughts about various aspects of their body. These thoughts cause a lot of anxiety and shame and the compulsive behaviours are engaged in reduce and regulate this anxiety and stress.

Therefore, CBT techniques work best in both these disorders and the most commented techniques used are "Exposure and Response Prevention " and "Cognitive Restructuring"
