the subcortical structures involved
in memory and their functions are:
Basal ganglia: has
its functions in motor control
Cerebellum:
present separately and is involved in controlling the timing,
movements and their planning, and also memory. Also, it helps in
error detection.
Tectum: is made up
of four bumps, which carry out the function of eye movements as
well as object localisation. The inferior colliculi is related to
hearing sense of a person.
Thalamus:
responsible in sleep control as well as in attention. Acts as a
relay station, where, there would be information received from the
spinal cord and sent to the cerebral cortex.
Limbic system:
interacts with the temporal lobe for establishing event
memory.
