When you take your foot off the accelerator in a car, what happens? What forces are causing the change in motion?
In an ideal condition, when we take foot off the accelerator, the car will keep moving at constant speed. However, this is not the case with real world driving. When we take foot off the accelerator, we are inviting the frictional force to dominate the forward motion of car. the car will start slowing down as the frictional force which is acting in the opposite direction of motion will increase in magnitude. This is not applicable to just cars but to all the vehicle having traction.
