Beats is the periodic vibration in the intensity of sound due to superposition of two sound waves of slightly diffrent frequencies .During the formation of beats alternatively waxing (maximum sound) and waning (minimum sound) of sound produced.

By adjusting the frequency of sound produced by guitar , the number of beats is reduced to zero.when this is done, guitars are emitting sound wave of same frequency and they are then said to be in unison with each other. in this way by using beats we can tune the guitar.
