Write out the electron configuration for the ground state of the technetium atom, for which Z=43. The electron configuration can be written as follows: 1s2-2s2-3p6-...

Homework Answers

Answer #1

For Technetium atom, given that

Z = 43

electronic configuration will be = 1s2-2s2-2p6-3s2-3p6-3d10-4s2-4p6-4d5-5s2

for n = 1 we have 1s which will take only two electron = 2 eletron

for n = 2 we have 2s and 2p = 2 + 6 = 8 electron

for n = 3 we have 3s, 3p and 3d = 2 + 6 + 10 = 18 electron

for n = 4 we have 4s, 4p and 4d = 2 + 6 + x = 8 + x

remeber that electron will go into 5s before 4d

for n = 5 we have 5s = 2 electron

2 + 8 + 18 + 8 + x + 2 = 43

x = 5

So 4d will have 5 electrons
