For this discussion, you’ll conduct a simple experiment. First, fill a large glass measuring cup (or a glass bowl if you don’t have a large glass measuring cup) about two-thirds full of water. Then gather 10 small objects that you can place in the water. Look for a mix of objects that float easily, barely float, sink slowly, and sink quickly. Place each object in the water one at a time, using an erasable marker to note how the water level changes when you put it in the measuring cup or bowl. In your initial post to the discussion, describe your process and what objects you found for each category. After your description, respond to the following questions:
1. Why do you think some objects floated more easily than others?
2. What properties do they exhibit?
3. Why do you think some objects sank more quickly than others? What properties do they exhibit?
4. What did you observe about the different water level changes? Did anything surprise you about these? Explain. Did any of your objects behave differently than you expected? Explain.
