Yes here we can analyse this thing. Few things we have to keep in mind that Lanier is top level manager. A top level manager suppose take find solution and take decision. He prefer other to find a solution.

A managerial point of view if a manger prefer to a find a solution with others is a good approach. By doing so he is not only wining the trust of his subordinated also reaching a solution which is best and consider the bottom part of organisation.

But there a thing to keep in mind. In the time of need sometime he need to have control over the decision making or he need to take it alone. So, it is not always better to prefer other to find a solution.
