How much value does verbal recognition have in an employee's eyes? Are there actions that may decrease its value? If so, how do managers prevent this from occurring?

Answer #1

In my view , it has less value than a written appraisal and comments so far. People take it as less important . Many times , managers praise a particular employee but while annual appraisal they do not arrange any salary hike or promotion then it will create a feeling of dissatisfaction among the employees. Values will be lower if people will appreciate but not do any favorable activities for the employees.

If , such thing will occur at workplace then a manager can do better by immediately offer some favorable order to the employees facing such recognition in verbal form.

He might introduce a system where verbal recognition will be taken as a basis of employees performance evaluation. It will be in control if people will be cooperate to their mentors or boss.
