Answer #1

Substantive laws are generally the common law and regulations regarding rights and responsibilities in the civil law and the crime and its punishment in the criminal, it is generally the way how a society behaves. Procedural law are the rules and regulations that the court uses to decide in civil proceedings. The primary importance of knowing these laws for non lawyers is that the person will be aware of the minute details of what may or may not happen in the case and the potential decisions that the court may take. In this way the lawyer cannot take advantage of the person because of lack of knowledge and cannot provide the person with wrong information regarding any of the rules. I believe that a normal person should possess knowledge about these laws which will make the journey in life smooth for the person.
