Adolescence is a time of rapid growth and adolescents need to have a healthy lifestyle to support bone growth, hormonal changes, and organ and tissue development, including the brain. For this, they require additional nutrients and a control over tendency to consume junk food and soft drinks. At the same time, adolescents juggle increasing responsibilities at school and at home. To cope with these changes, adolescents require good quality and plentiful sleep. However, with their hectic routines, inexperience managing time and making healthy choices, puts adolescents at a high risk for sleep deprivation. Finally, exercise has several potential benefits for adolescents. When combined with a healthy diet, it reduces the risk for obesity and illnesses relating to the heart. Exercise also has a positive impact on am adolescents’ mental and emotional health.
