An effective leadership has the
ability to influence the behavior of individuals and motivate them
to act in a particular way so that organizational goals are
achieved. It also applies to the quality management practices that
can be demonstrated by the example. The example is taken from the
manufacturing setup, producing malted food for kids. Here, the
issue was to implement the good manufacturing practices and
circular were issued at first to the workers at different level to
follow the good manufacturing practices. Though, it was not very
successful and employees followed it sparingly. After observing
thins, the factory manager with his team of managerial staff
started following all the aspects of the good manufacturing

benefits of the quality practices and it transformed the rest of
the employees and they also started it to follow as per the factory
schedule of work. It improved the quality level as everyone started
contributing in improving the quality in the organizational
setting. It was only possible when the leadership implemented the
idea themselves, and showed the path to rest of the
employees.
There is a contagious effect of the this example in other areas of
improvement. The success of the leadership, encouraged the factory
manager to identify different types of waste started with the
overstocking of the inventory. The leadership helped to implement
proper inventory management practices so that cash trapped is freed
and used for other productive activities. Besides, process steps
were reorganized to eliminate the bottleneck. It further improved
the quality. This kind of transformation drive, created a team of
volunteers who initiated the quality improvement drive and achieved
it in different areas of the operation. So, it is the leadership
that helped organization to drive people and achieve the higher
level of quality.
